Why learn with Bill Plant?

Bill Plant Driving School is a family run driving school providing lessons nationwide.

The school was established in the 1990s with a small fleet of dedicated instructors and has since expanded to over 700 instructors nationally.

Bill Plant offers discounted block bookings and intensive driving courses that are tailored to each individual learner’s needs.

All Bill Plant’s instructors teach in top of the range BMW or Volkswagen cars with dual controls. The instructors’ cars are replaced every 6 and a half months, so learners are guaranteed to learn in a brand new vehicle.

A number of learners have praised their Bill Plant driving instructors: “Amazing instructors” (Sarah), “Bill Plants instructor, through patience and perseverance, was able to push me to get over my fear and learn how to drive” (William) and “If you are looking for a patient driving teacher, I recommend you to go with Bill Plant!” (Lacin126).

There are support materials available on Bill Plant’s website including a free practice theory test, highway code and a game to practise parking with. The driving school also has instructional videos available on Youtube to assist learners.

This school provides a range of hourly lessons, packages and intensive courses. It also offers the Pass Plus and motorway driving lessons.

Vehicle types

All driving lessons take place in a brand new BMW or VW car with dual controls. Bill Plant Driving School offers both automatic and manual driving lessons, with a greater availability of manual driving instructors.

Bill Plant driving instructors

Bill Plant offers an instructor training course as well as driving lessons for the standard driving licence. The school uses ADIs as well as PDIs who are still in training.

Bill Plant Driving School has both male and female driving instructors.

Bill Plant offers driving lesson packages. Manual lessons are available from £27.50, whereas automatic lessons start at £29.50 per hour.

Driving courses

Bill Plant Driving School offers intensive driving courses that are catered to each learner’s individual needs. Each course begins with a two-hour session to assess how long it might take to pass the driving test.

Learners are able to learn as intensively as they would like, but it is important to note that the price per hour won’t be any different from learners who take their lessons over a longer period of time. Manual lessons start at £27.50, while automatic lessons begin at £29.50 per hour.

As with lesson packages, large block booking deals are available in some areas, but you need to call the school up in order to enquire about availability.

The Pass Plus course offered by the school takes place over a minimum of six hours and costs £180 in total.

Offers and promos

Learners who haven’t yet had lessons with a Bill Plant driving instructor are eligible to receive their first hour free as a trial lesson. This doesn’t apply to pupils who hold a full driving licence or have had their licence revoked.

In selected areas, learners can purchase their first six driving lessons for just £99.

There are also individual Bill Plant instructors who offer additional discounts on the school’s hourly rates. It isn’t possible to see instructors’ individual prices online, so learners need to contact the school to find out if there are any discounts available.

Cancellations and refunds

In order to cancel a lesson, the learner needs to give 24 hours’ notice. If this notice isn’t given, the learner may have to pay the full lesson fee even if the lesson hasn’t taken place.

Bill Plant driving lessons are one hour long. If a lesson has to be cut short for any reason outside of the instructor’s control, any lost time will be added to a later lesson. It’s important to note that it is the learner’s responsibility to make sure this is recorded on the appointment card.

Customer Support

Bill Plant Driving School is quick to respond to both phone calls and emails. The school isn’t able to give any information on waiting times as it doesn’t keep a record of instructors’ availabilities. Without a postcode, the school is unable to give any information out about instructor supply. It’s possible to provisionally book a lesson by email or over the phone.
