When making an initial purchase, new starters can book a one-hour taster lesson, two-hour assessment, 10-hour block booking deal or a 10-hour automatic deal. 

After a one-hour taster lesson, your instructor will advise on the next steps if you would like to continue your learning with driveJohnsons. This will be based on your driving experience and level. It’s also possible to book Intensive Block Courses, where you’ll be able to choose from a 10-hour blast, 20-hour course, 30-hour course and a 10-hour automatic course to start with.

Cancellations and refunds

Should you wish to cancel a driving lesson, you need to give your driveJohnsons instructor 24 hours’ notice. If you cancel a lesson without giving enough notice then your driving instructor is entitled to charge you the normal lesson rate or the prorated amount for the lesson for block bookings.

Any driveJohnsons instructor has the right to cancel a lesson if the learner hasn’t presented their valid UK provisional driving licence before the first lesson. If this is after the 24 hours’ notice period, the learner will be charged for the lesson. If unforeseen circumstances occur, for example, the driving instructor’s car breaks down, or the instructor is ill, driveJohnsons will aim to find a replacement instructor or vehicle as soon as possible.

Learners who want to cancel a purchase must contact driveJohnsons driving school in writing within 30 days of their purchase date to start the refund process. Any unused hours are eligible for a refund. Learners who pay their driving instructor directly will need to request a refund from the instructor rather than the school.

If you would like to switch driveJohnsons instructors, you must contact the school in writing as soon as possible before your block booking lessons expire. You will be reassigned an instructor if possible.

For intensive course bookings, you can cancel before taking any lessons but you will lose 50% of the course payment unless you give a minimum of two weeks’ notice. If you wish to cancel an intensive course after having some lessons, then you will lose any remaining lesson hours you’ve paid for.
